The Best Inventions of 2019 Come to CES

December 17, 2019

Every year, TIME magazine highlights the inventions that are making the world better, smarter and even more fun.

Evaluated based on key factors including originality, creativity, influence, ambition and effectiveness, the 100 inventions aim to reflect the way we are changing the way we live, work, play and think about what’s possible.

More than 20 of the 2019 Best Inventions companies will be joining us at CES 2020 — and almost a quarter are Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® members.

See these innovations at CES 2020. Explore five of them.

ROYBI: An AI-Powered Educator

An artificial-intelligence-powered tool designed to help kids ages 3 through 7 learn language and STEM skills, the Roybi Robot gradually tailors its lessons and responses to a child’s unique learning style. The robot can even recognize a child’s emotions and curate content the child enjoys. Kids can hear a story, sing a song or learn a lesson with the Roybi robot.

YOLK: Solar Cow

The YOLK Solar Cow, a cow-shaped solar charging system, helps improve access to electricity and education in developing nations. Placed near schools, the charging system provides “milk” — white, portable batteries — for students to take home to their families. During pilot programs in Kenya and Tanzania, approximately 500 kids took charged batteries home.

Elvie: A Subtle Breast Pump

A wearable breast pump, Elvie has no tubes or wires and has a nearly silent motor. Lighter, slimmer and quieter than traditional pumps, Elvie allows moms to discreetly pump while performing daily activities.

Tivic Health: Relieving Sinus Pain

Tivic Health’s ClearUP emits a microcurrent of electricity from a pen-like tip, which users glide around the eye for five minutes a day to calm the nerves connected to the sinuses aggravated by allergies. Not a nose spray or nasal flush, this FDA-approved treatment uses new technology to provide comfortable relief.

Tivic Health will also be featured at the CES 2020 Innovation Awards Showcase.

Impossible Foods: A Better Plant Burger

Impossible Foods is returning to CES 2020 after the launch of the Impossible Burger 2.0 at CES 2019. A fully plant-based burger, the Impossible Burger meets the needs for a sustainable burger, and it has made headlines for its partnership with Burger King this past year. The company plans to continue with other meat alternatives, such as plant-based chicken and fish.
