The SBMS(Smart safe Battery Management System) we developed is the world's first product to integrate a fire extinguishing device, a smart safety feature, into the existing battery management system (BMS). Installed in battery packs for electric vehicles, ESS, and e-mobility using lithium batteries, it offers more than just overcharge and overdischarge protection and cell balancing. SBMS continuously monitors battery cell temperatures, and if abnormal heat is detected, it automatically releases CO2 to cool the cells and remove oxygen within the module. This effectively prevents thermal runaway and extinguishes fires, significantly enhancing the protection of human life and societal safety.
