H.S. Kim has held key executive roles during the company’s rise to the global No. 1 position in the TV industry, which it has held for 11 consecutive years, overseeing the growing success of Samsung’s TV and Digital Appliances business. Kim joined Samsung Electronics as a Senior Researcher in 1992 and developed several breakthrough technologies throughout the years. He was the lead developer of the Bordeaux TV in 2006, which introduced an innovative new design to the TV industry and remains one of Samsung’s best-selling TV models to date. He also played an integral role in the development of Samsung’s LED TV, 3D TV, Smart TV, UHD TV, Curved TV, QLED TV, as well as the full lineup of differentiated premium products which reinforce Samsung’s leadership in the TV market. During his tenure at Samsung, Kim has built an enduring record of award-winning accomplishments. Among the numerous awards he has received at home and abroad, the most notable is the Bronze Medal of Industrial Effort he received in 2014. It is one of the Korean government’s most prestigious awards recognizing exemplary leadership in a national industry. He also served as Chairman of the Korea-based Smart TV Forum from 2012-2015.
