Mark Boxer

EVP & Global CIO, Cigna

Dr. Mark Boxer has served as Cigna's Global Chief Information Officer (CIO) since April 2011, overseeing the company’s technology strategy, operations, digital, analytics and ventures. Prior to Cigna, Dr. Boxer held senior technology management roles for a number of leading brands including Xerox, Anthem, Cigna Healthcare, Healthsource (a Cigna acquisition) and Hewlett Packard. In addition to several corporate board roles, Dr. Boxer is a University of Connecticut Board Trustee and sits on the Board of the Connecticut Children's Law Center. He has been recognized for his industry achievements by Computerworld, Insurance & Technology magazine and the STEMconnector consortium. Dr. Boxer is a champion for advancing the employment of people with different abilities, and is a recipient of the AAPD “Justice for All” Award. He holds doctorate degrees in Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina and in Global Public Health from Arizona’s School of Health Sciences; an MBA in Finance from UConn; an MS in Information Systems from Drexel University; and a BS in Engineering and BA in Physics from the University of Hartford.
