Rob Reis

CEO, Higher Ground

Mr. Reis has founded and managed four successful start-up companies. His current company, Higher Ground, developed first-ever technology that communicates messages to GEO satellites from a credit-card sized device [SatPaq]. These very large GEO satellites are 100x cheaper than LEO satellites which enables very inexpensive connectivity from anywhere. The SatPaq provides needed communications for consumers, on board UAVs and IoT Anywhere. Mr. Reis’ first start-up developed the Laser Turntable - a consumer audio product which played conventional vinyl records with a laser beam. Mr. Reis then founded Savi Technology [RF/ID] which completely transformed DoD logistics from a push process to a demand-based resupply system. Texas Instruments purchased Savi Technology where Mr. Reis later founded TI’s Home Theater group. His third start-up was a re-start called Silicon Gaming [Las Vegas-style slot machines]. Prior to his start-ups, Mr. Reis worked in the intelligence industry on foreign radar and tracking signals. Mr. Reis has three graduate degrees from Stanford University in engineering and business. Mr. Reis has eight granted patents and thirteen pending patents. The White House selected Savi Technology in 1994 as the National SBIR of the Year winner. In 1997, Mr. Reis was awarded the prestigious Tibbett’s award by the SBA. Mr. Reis is on the Judge Advisory Board of the International Science Fair and has judged science fairs at all levels for the last 30 years.
