In-Mold Structural Electronics (IMSE®)

TactoTek
  • 2025 Honoree in Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility

In-mold structural electronics (IMSE®) is a technology platform that integrates electronics, mechanics and cosmetics within a single-piece, seamless, 3D injection molded part. IMSE parts re light weight, thin, and durable, they also reduce complexity by replacing multi-part conventional electronics assemblies. Circuitry, touch controls, proximity sensors, antennas, and lighting are common features in IMSE designs. Surface treatments include cosmetic plastics and natural materials, including wood veneer. Even with integrated lighting, IMSE parts can be as thin as 3mm and conform to complex shapes supporting unprecedented design freedom for incorporating electronic features in vehicle interiors and exteriors.
