Mobile Ankle-foot Exoneuromusculoskeleton

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
  • 2025 Honoree in Accessibility & AgeTech

The mobile ankle-foot exoneuromusculoskeleton (ENMS) is the first-of-its-kind that integrates multi-modal advantages of exoskeletons, soft pneumatic muscles, neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), and vibrotactile sensory feedback into a single, lightweight wearable system powered by a 9V rechargeable battery. This unique combination not only allows for effective correction of post-stroke footdrop and foot inversion, which are common issues faced by stroke patients, but also makes the whole system easy to use by non-professionals in self-help telerehabilitation.
