Planning for CES 2021

Last updated June 30, 2020

Planning for CES® 2021 in Las Vegas is underway. Once again, we are focused on bringing you the most influential tech event in the world. Major brands are committed for the show, and we will shortly be announcing some exciting keynote speakers.

However, we recognize this is a unique and uncertain time, and it is crucial that we provide regular updates about CES 2021 to help all our attendees make plans. Like you, we are learning more each day about the effects of COVID-19. As show organizers, we are working to apply what we learn in this new environment to produce a healthy and successful CES 2021 experience for all.

Planning for a Smaller Physical Show

It is a fact that CES 2021 will be a smaller show than it has been in recent years. Fewer people will be able to travel to the United States and to Las Vegas, and many of our smaller and international exhibitors will not be able to travel to Las Vegas to exhibit this year. This will allow us to create more space to spread out and help enable social distancing.

Expanding the CES Platform Digitally

CES attracts audiences from around the globe who want to be first to see and experience the latest technology innovations. For those unable to attend in person, in recent years we have streamed our keynotes and many conference sessions.

For CES 2021, we will continue to make the show’s content accessible for our digital audiences. We will also provide a platform for our exhibitors to showcase their groundbreaking product launches and technology breakthroughs digitally, as well as physically in Las Vegas.

Best Practices for Health and Safety

Your safety, security and health are always our top priority. We will continue to follow the recommendations and guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as those issued by state and local officials. We will adapt and change our plans as recommendations become available, to limit potential spread most effectively. We will post regular updates here on CES.tech.

Some measures we are implementing include:

  • We will clean and sanitize our venues regularly. Sanitization stations will be available throughout all venues.
  • To enable social distancing, physical attendance for our conference sessions and key events will be limited.
  • We will create wider aisles and walkways for attendees.
  • Face masks will be required for entry to show locations.
  • Attendees will go through health screening protocols before entering CES official sites.
  • We will work to limit touch points throughout the facilities, including through cashless systems for purchases and transactions.
  • We will also provide enhanced on-site access to health services and medical aid.

We are working closely with the Las Vegas community, including the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and the hotel venues, who are now in Phase Two of their reopening plan. Our key venues for CES have implemented and continue to update their own COVID-19 plans.

Though we are excited for CES 2021, we also recognize the possibility that new developments with the pandemic may require us to cancel the physical, in-person show. This would be a difficult decision but may be necessary. In that event, we will move forward with an all-digital show.

Thank you for your support during what is an uncertain time for all of us. We will continue to provide regular updates.
